Cigarette Racing Boat Inspired By SLS AMG

Mercedes-Benz and Cigarette Racing converged upon the 2010 Miami International Boat Show last week to unveil a new 46-foot custom racing boat inspired by the automaker’s SLS AMG supercar. In lieu of the Gullwing’s lone 6.2-liter V8 engine, which puts out a measly 563 horsepower, the Cigarette boat offers a pair of twin-turbocharged 552-cubic-inch Mercury Racing engines. Each mill cranks out 1,350 horsepower. Yep, that’s 2,700 total horsies. Giddyup.

The new Cigarette 46-foot Rider features hand-applied AMG ALUBEAM silver paint, as seen on the SLS AMG supercar. According to the automaker, its specially developed painting technique "covers body surfaces like a metallic skin, targeting light reflections to further emphasize exterior character lines and design details." We’ll take their word for it.

Step inside the boat and you’ll be greeted with marine-grade upholstery that’s designed to resemble the two-tone porcelain and white Nappa leather offered on the SLS AMG. So far, there’s no word on how much this custom Cigarette will go for, but something with a six-pack of zeros is virtually a lock.

Santoni Driving Shoes Mercedes Benz SLS AMG

Driving a supercar upside down in a tunnel requires some fancy footwork, even if there isn’t a clutch pedal to manipulate. Fortunately the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has got the right footwear thanks to a collaboration with Santoni. The Italian clothier, which has shared a longstanding relationship with Benz’s performance house, has crafted these specially-made, FIA-certified driving shoes.

Presented recently at the Pitti Uomo 77 boutique in Milan, the SLS AMG driving shoes will be available to buyers – and presumably to fans – of the corresponding supercar in black, and soon in a variety of colors to compliment the high performance machine. The laces, though, open like any other shoes, not like the gullwing they’re made to accompany.

Mercedes Benz AMG & Cigarette Racing

There have been a lot of non-auto vehicles that have graced the pages of Autoblog. We regularly cover bikes, and occasionally other modes of transportation as well. We even cover the occasional boat, especially if it has ties to the automotive industry. We’ve seen amphibious cars, catamarans, yachts, sailboats, and even wooden boats that look like cars. None of those, however, capture our attention as much as speed boats. Whether inspired by Chevrolet, Jaguar, Ferrari, Spyker, Porsche, Audi or Lancia, they set our hearts aflutter just as much as their landbound dopplegangers. Now we can add Mercedes-Benz to the mix.

Set to launch at the 2010 Miami International Boat Show in February is this sleek Cigarette Racing boat. The new craft is said to be inspired by the 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, although the concept sketch they’ve provided us doesn’t show any gullwing hatches. We’re not sure if it will be powered by AMG engines, but the 42-plus-foot boat is expected to be good for 120 mph with its twin staggered powerplants. Cigarette says their newest offshore racer "will feature more than 100 innovations included in the design, development and rigging of the boat."
